Spring 2024 Enrichment Classes
Please register on the PTO website beginning April 9th at 9 p.m. Please be aware that some courses have historically filled within minutes of registration opening. If a course is filled that your child is interested in, please email the PTO to be added to the waitlist. All classes are $50 plus an additional fee for supplies for some classes which are paid during registration. Classes will be offered 1 day a week for six weeks.

Yummy Yoga with Ms. Campbell
Grades: Kindergarten
Tuesdays - April 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14, 21
Cost: $60 plus Yoga mat or towel
Welcome Spring with exercise and mindfulness! Enjoy a mindful yoga workout in the first half of class, followed by a healthy, no bake, snack creation to keep us conscious of healthy eating. This class will focus on the balance of diet and exercise in a positive and fun way! Students will take away the practice of yoga and mindfulness, along with healthy after school snack ideas.
Fairytale STEM with Mrs. Prendergast
Grades: 1st & 2nd
Tuesdays - April 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14, 21
Cost: $55
Can you build a strong house that the Big Bad Wolf can't blow down? Can you build a bridge for the gingerbread man to cross the river? We will begin each class with a Read Aloud of a favorite Fairy Tale. Then, students will work together to help each character solve a problem by completing a STEM challenge! Students will collaborate with classmates, use problem solving and critical thinking skills, and build their imagination, all while having fun with their friends! The Fairy Tales we will read aloud include: The Three Little Pigs, The Gingerbread Man, Hansel and Gretel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Billy Goats Gruff, and Rapunzel.
Football 101 with Mr. Morris
Grades: 6th, 7th & 8th
Tuesdays - April 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14, 21
Cost: $50
This class will cover the whole nine yards, including why that is not a football reference. Students will learn about the positions, formations, movements, and rules of the game that dominates your TV screens from late August through early February. Students will also learn the history of the game including its evolution and some of the historical figures whose impact can still be seen in the game today.
Spring Eco Class with Mr. Yee
Grades: 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th
Tuesdays - April 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14, 21
Cost: $50
Students will learn about native plants that attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators by observing our school’s National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Certified Habitat - a native wildflower garden that was established by the Spring ’22 Eco Class. We will clean up the garden so it will bring a variety of pollinators to our backyard! Milkweed seeds were planted last fall. They are a favorite plant for Monarch Butterflies. Students will also make “seed bombs”; a fun way to spread wildflower seeds. The class will learn about aeroponic gardening using a Tower Garden that grows plants with only water and nutrients rather than dirt. The Tower Garden will be located in the courtyard. Finally, the Eco Class will plant an assortment of colorful flowers in the school’s courtyard garden boxes.
Cook with a Book with Mrs. Phillips
Grades: K, 1st & 2nd
Tuesdays - April 16, 23, 30; May 7, 14, 21

Students will enjoy a hands-on cooking experience that is theme based on a story. Students will mix, measure, and pour to gain self-confidence as they successfully follow a recipe to create delicious snacks and desserts.
Cheerleading with Ms. Stover
Grades: 3rd, 4th & 5th
Wednesday - April 17, 24; May 1, 8, 15, 22
Cost: $50
Come join cheerleading where you will learn the basics of cheerleading, perfect your jumps, practice fun cheers, and even work on some stunts. Get ready to show your spirit and enthusiasm!
Enchantment at Hogwarts with Mr. Mahon
Grades: 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th

Step into the enchanting world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in our captivating after-school enrichment program! Students will brew potions, craft wands, engage in Quidditch matches, care for magical creatures, and even face the challenges of the Triwizard Tournament. Through hands-on activities, arts and crafts, and immersive readings from the Harry Potter series, participants will ignite their imaginations, foster creativity, and develop teamwork skills in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Nursery Rhyme STEM with Mrs. Prendergast

Can you help Jack and Jill get water down the hill? Can you make a rocket fly over the moon for Hey Diddle Diddle? Each week, we will begin our class with a Read Aloud of a favorite Nursery Rhyme. Then, students will work together to help the characters solve a problem by completing a STEM challenge! The Nursery Rhymes we will complete STEM challenges for are: Little Bo Peep, Jack and Jill, Little Miss Muffet, Hickory Dickory Dock, Hey Diddle Diddle, and Jack Be Nimble.

Little Lego Masters with Mrs. Snyder
Grades: 3rd, 4th & 5th
Thursday - April 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16, 23
Cost: $50 - LEGOS will be provided by the STEM Lab, but any additional pieces needed can be brought in by the student at the start of the 1st week. All personal LEGOs will be returned weekly, or at the end of the 6 weeks, depending on need.
Welcome to your new LEGO Club at BES! Each week kids will take on a secret building challenge with a partner and compete against the other teams. If you win, you and your partner will be crowned LEGO Master of the week! Do you have what it takes to be the next LEGO Master Champion?
