Spring Eco Class - Tuesday- 2nd-5th
Offered by Mr. Yee Grades 2nd-5th Tuesdays - April 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16, 23
Description
Students will learn about native plants that attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators by observing our school’s National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Certified Habitat - a native wildflower garden that was established by the Spring ’22 Eco Class. We will clean up the garden so it will bring a variety of pollinators to our backyard! Milkweed seeds were planted last fall. They are a favorite plant for Monarch Butterflies. Students will also make “seed bombs”; a fun way to spread wildflower seeds. The class will learn about aeroponic gardening using a Tower Garden that grows plants with only water and nutrients rather than dirt. The Tower Garden will be located in the courtyard. Finally, the Eco Class will plant an assortment of colorful flowers in the school’s courtyard garden boxes.
